Anglican Church to Ordain Nigeria’s Gay Cleric

The England Anglican Church has disclosed plans to ordain a Nigerian Gay Cleric, Jide Macaulay in June 2019.
Macaulay in an instagram post expressed delight about the honour.

“It is a delight to share this news, I am to be ordained Anglican Priest in the Church of England in June 2019.
“Wait on the Lord, be of Good courage and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait I say, on the Lord” Psalm 27:14.”

Known for his advocacy about the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT), Macaulay was born into a family of clerics and has also founded House of Rainbow, Nigeria’s first house of worship catering to the LGBTQ community.

While the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has not responded to this development, the church has always rejected calls from western powers to ordain gay priests.
